Nice consider move for Ghana defender Alidu Seidu from Rennes

Ghanaian centre-back Alidu Seidu, currently with Stade Rennais, has been linked with a move to Nice in Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old joined Rennes from Clermont Foot in January 2024 in a deal worth €11m. His current market value is listed at €6m, while his contract with Rennes runs until 30 June 2029.

Seidu has yet to feature for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season, having been left without an appearance across the campaign’s first four possible matches. He did play for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, making one appearance and spending 21% of the available minutes on the pitch. He was shown one yellow card in that match.

The proposed move would see Seidu remain in France’s top flight, with Nice emerging as the club linked with his signing. There is no indication that an agreement has been reached, and the report remains at the rumour stage.

Born in Accra, Seidu began his senior career with Clermont after joining the club’s reserve side from JMG Abidjan in 2019. He established his current spell at Rennes after the January 2024 transfer and remains under contract at Roazhon Park for almost three more seasons.
