Ghana midfielder Richard Boadu has made a striking return to Asante Kotoko, joining the Ghana Premier League club after a spell without a club. The 28-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 25 August 2026 and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2028. No transfer fee has been disclosed. Boadu previously played for Asante Kotoko between September 2021 and August 2023, making the latest move a return to the club where he won the Ghanaian championship in the 2021-22 season. He left Kotoko for Egyptian side Al-Ahly in August 2023 before moving to Club Africain on a free transfer in January 2025. Boadu then spent part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Libyan club Al-Tahaddy, returning to Club Africain at the end of June. After leaving the Tunisian side in July 2025, Boadu remained without a club until his return to Kotoko. His latest contract brings him back to a club he already represented in domestic and continental competition. Boadu has made 103 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He has also featured eight times in the CAF Champions League and seven times in qualifying play-offs. Born in Kumasi, Boadu began his senior career with Medeama before joining Asante Kotoko in 2021. His previous experience also includes six appearances in the Libyan Premier League, where he scored once and registered one assist during his time with Al-Tahaddy. The right-footed midfielder now returns to Ghanaian football with a contract that keeps him at Asante Kotoko through June 2028.
