Ghanaian goalkeeper Obed Ankrah has joined Romanian club M. Lupeni on a free transfer from Inter Stars Sb., completing his latest move in a rapidly changing 2026. The 22-year-old made the switch on 24 August after only two weeks with Inter Stars, whom he joined from FC Hermannstadt on 10 August. Ankrah’s move to M. Lupeni represents his third club change of the year, following a series of transfers and loan spells during the 2025-26 season. Ankrah spent part of that campaign with Inter Stars after arriving from Hermannstadt on loan on 9 February. He returned to Hermannstadt at the end of June, before moving back to Inter Stars in August on a free transfer. His previous season also included a loan spell with CSC Selimbar. Ankrah joined Selimbar from Hermannstadt on 31 July 2025 and returned to his parent club at the start of January 2026. He then moved to Inter Stars the following month, giving him experience of several changes of club within a single campaign. The goalkeeper first joined Hermannstadt from African Talent on 28 January 2025 in a €75,000 transfer. That remains the only recorded fee in his senior career, with his subsequent moves to Selimbar, Inter Stars and M. Lupeni taking place without a transfer fee or as the conclusion of a loan arrangement. Ankrah’s arrival gives M. Lupeni a Ghanaian goalkeeper who has spent the past year moving between clubs in Romania. His latest change comes immediately after the end of his short second spell with Inter Stars, where he had returned following his earlier loan. Born on 22 October 2003, Ankrah has remained in Romania since leaving African Talent for Hermannstadt in January 2025. His career has since included time with Hermannstadt, Selimbar and Inter Stars before his latest move to M. Lupeni. The transfer was completed on 24 August 2026, with Ankrah joining M. Lupeni from Inter Stars Sb. as a free agent.
