History was recently made at Abeka, a suburb of Accra, when the first installed Ewe Chief of the town was traditionally and legally recognised as the only bona fide Ewe Chief of the township.
All attempts to install an Ewe Chief since the establishment of Abeka, as a regency of the Asere stool of Ga Mashie had proved futile.
However, after a series of meetings among Abeka Ewes and vigorous vetting, a candidate was selected.
Under the supervision of the Abeka Palace, Mr D.E. Souza was installed as the Ewe Chief under the stool name Torgbui Bliguede I, by Chiefs from Dzodze Traditional Council on November 17, 2024.
In a brief but joyous ceremony at Abeka recently, Torgbui Bliguede was officially recognised as the bona fide Ewe Chief of Abeka, when the Abeka Mantse, Nii Boi lV presented the Certificate of Recognition to him.
Nii Boi IV congratulated the Ewe Chief, who is now a member of the Abeka Sub-Divisional Stool, under the Asere Divisional Council in the Greater Accra Region. He advised him to work in harmony with his people and show respect to his Elders and the Stool.
Torgbui Bliguede expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Abeka Mantse, the Abeka Palace Elders and the Abeka Stool. He also thanked Nii Asere for consenting to his recognition.
Present were Mr Emmanuel Nii Yartey Boye, the Administrative and Stool Secretary of the Abeka Traditional Council and Amega Gbagayaga Armah, Stool Father of the Abeka Ewe Traditional Council.
Others present were Amega Agbenorhevi James S.A. Kwashie and Amega Torgbi Agbenyenu, both Council Members of the Abeka Ewe Traditional Council.
