The Hatch House Foundation, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to supporting underserved schools and deprived communities across Ghana, has officially handed an ultramodern mechanised borehole to the Assin Odumase Roman Catholic Basic School in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.
The Intervention followed an appeal made by the school authorities in February 2026. During a brief but colourful handing-over ceremony, the Foundation’s Administrator, Mrs Stephanie Adawu Dadzie, recounted a tragic incident that highlighted the urgency of the water project.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Tayib Sheriff, she revealed, that one of the pupils who once rushed home in search of drinking water, lost his life after being hit by a speeding vehicle.
This incident, she noted, deepened the Foundation’s resolve to provide a reliable and safe water source for the school. She estimated that the water project would benefit over 2,000 pupils and significantly improve sanitation and overall well-being within the school.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headmistress, Madam Theresah Amoah, expressed profound gratitude to the Foundation’s CEO and Board of Directors. She explained that the lack of potable water had adversely affected teaching and learning, as some pupils who often left the school premises in search of water and refused to return to school.
She added that the borehole would greatly improve hygiene and create a more conducive learning environment.
ICT Equipment Donation Project
In addition to the water project, the Hatch House Foundation also donated essential ICT equipment to Assin Odumase Roman Catholic Basic School. This is to enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology.
The donation included a computer projector with accessories, an HP laptop and a multi-purpose colour printer.
This support followed an earlier donation in February 2026, when the Foundation provided 10 sets of all-in-one desktop computers to strengthen ICT education in the school.
During the handing-over ceremony, the Foundation’s Administrator, Mrs. Stephanie Adawu Dadzie, described the initiative as both the fulfilment of a promise and a strategic investment in improving ICT training and skills acquisition among students.
She emphasised that access to ICT tools has become critical in today’s technology-driven world and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to equipping learners with relevant digital competencies.
“This gesture is not just about opening doors, but holding them open for others in the pursuit of excellence,” she stated.
The school’s ICT Facilitator, M Jacob Ofosu Opare, welcomed the support, noting that the new curriculum demanded the integration of technology into teaching.
He said the availability of projectors would make lessons more interactive and improve learning outcomes, ultimately preparing the pupils to understand the basics of ICT. He assured that the equipment would be properly utilised and maintained.
Mrs. Adawu Dadzie further urged school authorities to adopt a strong maintenance culture to ensure the longevity of the facilities and equipment, noting that the donation aligns with the Foundation’s mission to support deprived schools and communities.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ghana Education Service, including Mr Mark Brewu Arhin, School Improvement Support Officer and Madam Evelyn Kedidor, Municipal Girl-Child Education Coordinator.
Also present were the Assembly Member for the area, Mr Eric Kwaku Foh and members of the Parent-Teacher Association.
