Ghanaian centre-forward Samuel Konney has joined Ghad Afdal as a free agent after leaving Lebanese champions Al-Ansar.
The 30-year-old completed the move on 17 September and brings experience from a title-winning season in Lebanon to his new club. Konney played a key part in Al-Ansar’s success during the 2025-26 campaign, when the club secured the Lebanese Premier League title.
Konney scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 21 Lebanese Premier League appearances. He also recorded six goals and one assist in 16 appearances in the BFL, while scoring once in four AFC Challenge League matches.
The 1.90m striker joined Al-Ansar from Al-Abbassieh in August 2025 on a free transfer. He left the Lebanese champions in April 2026 before spending a period without a club.
A right-footed forward, Konney has also played for Rahmatganj, Gokulam FC, NK Krsko, Phar Rangers and Inter Allies during his career. He began his senior career with Inter Allies in 2017 before moving to Phar Rangers the following year.
His time in Lebanon has produced his most notable recent achievement, with the league title adding to a career that has included spells in Ghana, India, Slovenia and Bangladesh. His goalscoring record in the Lebanese Premier League provides the main statistical foundation for his move to Ghad Afdal.
Konney’s arrival gives Ghad Afdal an experienced attacking option following his departure from Al-Ansar. He joins the club with a record of 18 goals across the Lebanese Premier League and BFL, alongside five assists in those competitions.
The transfer was completed without a disclosed fee, with Konney moving to Ghad Afdal after becoming a free agent.
