Daniel Heber and Moritz Kwarteng shine for Magdeburg against Kaiserslautern

German-Ghanaian defender Daniel Heber and midfielder Moritz Kwarteng each provided an assist as FC Magdeburg defeated Kaiserslautern 3-0 in the 2. Bundesliga on Saturday.

The hosts controlled the game from the start and delivered a confident performance at the Avnet Arena.

Magdeburg opened the scoring after only 12 minutes, with Emmanuel Iyoha finishing a move to give the home side an early advantage. Heber then made his contribution in the 16th minute, setting up Alexander Nollenberger for Magdeburg’s second goal.

Kaiserslautern struggled to respond, while Magdeburg continued to create opportunities. Although the visitors briefly threatened through Mateusz Żukowski, his goal was cancelled following a VAR review, preserving the hosts’ two-goal lead before halftime.

Magdeburg completed the victory eight minutes into the second half. Kwarteng supplied Iyoha, who scored his second goal of the afternoon to make it 3-0. Both Heber and Kwarteng later left the field during the second half after helping their team secure a commanding advantage.

The result strengthened Magdeburg’s position near the top of the table and gave them valuable momentum in the promotion race. Their next challenge arrives on September 18, when they face Fürth in the Bundesliga 2.
