Bibiani GoldStars head coach Petros Koukouras says his side must maintain their strong home record at Dun’s Park if they are to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title this season.
GoldStars went unbeaten at home throughout the 2025/26 campaign and will look to preserve that record when they host Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Koukouras believes home form will be particularly important this season, pointing to the dominance of home teams on the opening weekend.
“When you see the matchday one, there was no away win and only four goals scored from the away teams. So it's a home-dominant league,” Koukouras said.
“If we want to be one of the title contenders, we should not drop any points at home.”
The Greek coach says turning Dun’s Park into a fortress again will be central to GoldStars’ ambitions.
“So making our home stadium a fortress is very important,” he added.
GoldStars began their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United and will be looking to respond immediately against Hearts of Oak.
The Phobians, meanwhile, arrive in Bibiani after an impressive 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea.
With both sides having ambitions for the new campaign, Koukouras knows GoldStars must protect their home advantage if they are to establish themselves among the title contenders.
