Ibrahim Sadiq joins Colorado Rapids as Ghana winger seals MLS move

Ghana winger Ibrahim Sadiq has completed a move to Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, signing a contract that will keep him at the club through the 2027-28 season.

The 26-year-old has also agreed to a club option for the 2028-29 campaign, with the deal completed before the closure of MLS’ Secondary Transfer Window.

Sadiq will occupy an international roster slot and is expected to join the Rapids once he receives his P-1 Visa.

The former AZ Alkmaar attacker arrives in Colorado after three seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he established himself as an important attacking option.

Sadiq made 85 appearances across all competitions for AZ, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists. He was part of the side that lifted the 2025-26 KNVB Cup and was named Eredivisie Player of the Month in September 2024.

Rapids president Pádraig Smith believes the Ghanaian’s pace and attacking versatility will add a new dimension to the team.

“Ibrahim is an exciting attacking player who has demonstrated his quality across several competitive European leagues,” Smith said.

Sadiq previously spent two seasons with Swedish club BK Häcken, scoring 27 goals and registering eight assists in 43 appearances. He helped Häcken win their first-ever Allsvenskan title in 2022.

The winger began his European career at FC Nordsjælland after graduating from Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy.

He made 63 senior appearances for the Danish club before moving to Häcken and later AZ.

Sadiq also represented Ghana at U-17 and U-20 level.
