Prampram hosts four-match MTN Elite U-19 Championship programme

The MTN Elite U-19 Championship returns to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Saturday, with four fixtures scheduled as Matchday Four reaches a potentially decisive stage.

Teams will be looking to build momentum and improve their position in the competition, with the day’s programme featuring two Group B matches alongside two other contests involving some of the tournament’s strongest regional sides.

Central Region begin the action against Upper East Region in the opening fixture.

Central will take confidence from their dramatic 1-0 victory over Greater Accra Region in Friday’s Group B meeting. The match appeared to be heading towards a draw before a late goal secured a memorable win for Central.

They will now attempt to produce another important result against Upper East as they look to maintain the momentum generated by that success.

The second Group B fixture will see Greater Accra Region face Brong Ahafo Region, with kick-off scheduled for 10:30am.

Both teams have points to pursue as the contest in the group becomes increasingly competitive. Greater Accra will be aiming to recover from their narrow defeat by Central Region, while Brong Ahafo will want to respond after suffering a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Northern Region.

Greater Accra’s attacking quality will be tested by a Brong Ahafo side determined to return to winning ways. The outcome could provide a significant boost to either team as the group campaign continues.

The third match will bring together Volta Region and defending champions Eastern Region.

Eastern Region enter the fixture with the added responsibility of protecting the title they currently hold, while Volta Region have already shown they are capable of competing strongly in the championship. Their meeting is expected to be one of the main attractions of the day.

Saturday’s schedule will conclude with Ashanti Region taking on Western Region.

Ashanti will be looking to extend their impressive form, but Western are expected to provide a determined challenge as they attempt to secure a positive outcome and make their mark on the competition. The final fixture promises to be another closely fought encounter before the day’s action comes to an end.
