Ghanaian centre-back James Asante has joined Romanian club CS Vulturii from Gilortul on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old completed the move on 27 August 2026, beginning his latest spell in Romanian football after leaving Gilortul. The transfer represents Asante’s fourth club change since March 2025, with each of his recorded moves completed without a transfer fee.
Asante joined Gilortul from CS Drobeta on 1 July 2026, also on a free transfer. His time at Gilortul therefore lasted less than two months before he moved on to CS Vulturii.
Before joining Gilortul, Asante spent the 2025-26 campaign with CS Drobeta. He arrived there from M. Lupeni on 9 September 2025, having previously left Semper Fi FC in March of the same year to join M. Lupeni.
The defender’s recorded appearances include two matches in the Romanian Cup, where he played 210 minutes, as well as one Liga 3 Play-Off appearance. His listed position is centre-back.
Asante was born in Koforidua and represents Ghana through his nationality. He is 1.85 metres tall and was born on 10 June 2003.
His arrival gives CS Vulturii a new option in central defence as the club adds a player with experience of Romanian domestic football across several teams. The move also continues a run of transfers within the Romanian game for the defender, who has changed clubs three times since the start of the 2025-26 season.
Asante has now completed his free transfer from Gilortul to CS Vulturii.
