Ghana international Daniel Kofi Kyereh says his previous relationship with VfL Osnabrück head coach Timo Schultz will help him settle quickly at the German club.
Kyereh joined Osnabruck on a free transfer, reuniting with Schultz, who coached him during his highly successful spell at FC St. Pauli.
The 30-year-old enjoyed the most productive period of his German career under Schultz, scoring 21 goals and providing 20 assists in 62 2. Bundesliga appearances.
Kyereh believes his familiarity with the coach’s football philosophy will help him as he works his way back to his best level following a lengthy injury absence.
“I know Timo from our successful time together at FC St. Pauli and know how he wants to play football.”
Kyereh said the trust shown by Osnabrück during his difficult recovery period was also an important factor in his decision to join the club.
“The VfL has dealt with me, my situation and my current condition very intensively. This trust means a great deal to me.”
The Ghanaian returned to competitive football with SC Freiburg II in the spring, making seven Regionalliga appearances after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
He is now expected to gradually integrate into Osnabrück’s first-team training as the club manages his workload.
Kyereh said his immediate focus is on rebuilding his fitness and regaining his best form.
“Now I’m looking forward to the team, the Bremer Brücke and gradually working my way back to my best level.”
