The Ghanaian government has begun efforts to assist Ghanaians in the diaspora to secure tickets for the Black Stars' 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama in Toronto, following an initial distribution of 1,000 tickets for Ghanaians abroad.
In a statement, the Ghana High Commission in Canada said it had been directed by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to collect details of Ghanaians in Canada who wish to attend the match on June 17 but have been unable to obtain tickets on their own.
Interested supporters have been asked to submit their details, including email addresses, by June 10 for onward submission to the Ministry.
The move follows an earlier announcement by Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, who said the ticket distribution initiative aims to ensure a strong Ghanaian presence at match venues and boost support for the national team during the tournament.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. After their opener in Toronto, Ghana will face England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
With the diaspora community playing a crucial role in rallying behind the team, the government's intervention signals an effort to make World Cup matches accessible to Ghanaian fans living in North America.
