The integrity unit of the Ghana Football Association has concluded a mandatory education session for members of the Black Stars technical team and playing body, reinforcing strict safeguards ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The briefing underscored a zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation and aimed to ensure all participants can identify and reject illicit approaches before and during the tournament.
Led by the association’s integrity officer, the session detailed the tactics commonly used by individuals seeking to influence results, including direct messaging, indirect contact through intermediaries and inducements involving cash or material rewards.
Players were taken through real-world scenarios to sharpen awareness of how such attempts are disguised and escalated.
Officials also stressed the absolute ban on football betting, whether direct or indirect, alongside the sharing of confidential team information.
Particular emphasis was placed on protecting sensitive details such as injury updates, squad selection and tactical planning, which could be exploited for gambling or manipulation purposes.
The integrity officer further reminded the squad of confidential and secure reporting channels available around the clock, designed to protect anonymity and encourage swift reporting of any suspicious behaviour.
The assurance of protection, officials noted, is central to maintaining trust and safeguarding the team’s competitive integrity on the global stage.
