Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have appointed Dutch-Surinamese football legend Stanley Menzo as the club’s new Technical Director, GHANAsoccernet.com can report
The Porcupine Warriors concluded the appointment as part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen the club’s technical structure and drive long-term football development.
Menzo arrives in Kumasi with a wealth of experience accumulated over several decades in the game, both as a player and coach.
Born in Paramaribo, Suriname, the former goalkeeper enjoyed a distinguished playing career and remains one of the most respected figures in Dutch football history.
The 62-year-old rose to prominence at Ajax, where he established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
During his time with the Amsterdam giants, Menzo won numerous domestic honours and played a key role in the club’s triumphs in European competitions, including the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Cup.
His impressive performances at club level earned him international recognition, leading to appearances for the Netherlands national team.
Following his retirement, Menzo transitioned into coaching and football administration, taking charge of several clubs and national teams.
His managerial resume includes spells with FC Volendam, Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, and Chinese side Beijing Guoan.
He also served as Technical Manager of the Aruba national team, further enhancing his reputation as a football development specialist.
Most recently, Menzo was in charge of the Suriname national team, guiding them through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign before departing the role ahead of the international playoffs.
At Kotoko, Menzo is expected to oversee the club’s technical direction, player development structures, recruitment strategies and overall football philosophy as the record Ghanaian champions seek to strengthen their position domestically and on the continental stage.
His appointment is seen as a significant statement of intent by Kotoko as they look to leverage his vast international experience to build a sustainable and competitive football project.
