Nations FC captain Razak Simpson has reflected on a season of mixed emotions after leading his side to MTN FA Cup glory.
The defender admitted that he is disappointment over their Ghana Premier League relegation but expressing gratitude for what he described as divine guidance through both success and setback.
Speaking after the club’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over Dreams FC, Simpson said he remains grounded despite the contrasting fortunes of the campaign.
“For the Premier League, I'm really disappointed, but whatever God has ordained, that is what is bound to happen,” he said.
“You just have to give God the glory in everything, whether it is successful or unsuccessful, let me say 50/50. I'm really disappointed in the Premier League because I think we were not supposed to be relegated... but all the same, whatever happens you just have to give glory to God.”
His comments came after Nations FC secured a historic FA Cup win at the University of Ghana Stadium, where they defeated Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Joseph Effah had given Nations FC the lead in the 31st minute before Abdul Razak Salifu equalised just before half-time. The result crowned Nations FC as FA Cup champions despite their league relegation.
