Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah has admitted that training sessions under new head coach Carlos Queiroz have been very intensive, requiring the team to adapt to a level of demands they are not accustomed to.
Speaking to 3Sports ahead of Ghana's friendly against Wales, Mensah opened up about the Portuguese tactician's rigorous methods as the team steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"The training session, like I said, is very intensive. We are not really used to this, but then we are going to the World Cup, so that's what we need as well," Mensah said.
Despite the steep learning curve, the left-back expressed confidence that the team is rising to the challenge and making progress under Queiroz's guidance.
"We have a new coach who comes with a new form of training and everything. Something that we are not used to, and I think we are adapting very good," he added.
Mensah also noted that Queiroz's influence extends beyond the pitch, affecting how players conduct themselves in hotels and during downtime.
With the friendly against Wales on June 2 fast approaching, the Black Stars are putting in the hard work. For Mensah, the intensity is necessary, and the adaptation is well underway.
