The Confederation of African Football has paid a glowing tribute to late Nigerian forward Michael Eneramo.
The former Super Eagles striker died at age 40 after collapsing during a friendly game in Ungwan Yelwa, Kaduna.
President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, in a statement on the continent's governing body website conveyed a heartfelt message to the family of the footballer and the Nigerian Football Federation.
The statement read: "The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”), Dr Patrice Motsepe, is deeply saddened by the passing of former Nigeria International, Michael Eneramo.
"On behalf of CAF and its 54 Member Associations, Dr Motsepe conveys his heartfelt condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation (“NFF”) and its President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, to the Family of Michael Eneramo and to the People of Nigeria.
"Michael Eneramo played amongst other clubs, for Lobi Stars in Nigeria, Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Turkish Club, Besiktas.
"May his Soul Rest in Peace."
Eneramo played ten times for the Super Eagles, making his debut in a friendly against Jamaica in 2009.
