Derrick Kohn has firmly established himself as an important player at Union Berlin this season, and the club have no plans to let him go in the summer.
His strong performances have attracted interest from abroad, but a transfer is not on the agenda.
Head coach Steffen Baumgart made it clear in a press conference that Kohn is a fixed part of his plans and should continue his development in Berlin. The coach believes the 27-year-old still has significant room to grow, especially in the final third, where consistency and end product can improve. With regular minutes now under his belt after a spell without much game time, Köhn has the platform to build on his attacking contributions.
Kohn himself has also cooled talk of a move. According to Bild, he said: "I'm here at Union now and I really want to help them stay in the league and simply perform well," adding that he feels "very, very well" in the capital. Having only joined from Galatasaray last summer and signed a contract through 2029, the left-back looks set to remain a mainstay in Union’s squad beyond this season.
Kohn has played 26 games, scored one goal, and assisted two in the Bundesliga this season.
