A Congolese rebel group advanced within 4 km of Goma in the violence-riddled eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to eyewitnesses, threatening to take over the strategic regional capital.

A grenade explosion killed seven people and wounded another 24 on Sunday in a predominantly Somali neighborhood of Nairobi, a Kenya Red Cross official said.
